No art form makes food look as tasty as anime does。 This cookbook recreates dishes from classics such as Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro and some new favorites like Demon Slayer and Food Wars。 In fact， there are quite a few Food Wars recipes in here， as there should be。 I was pleasantly surprised to see on from Tanaka-kun is Always Listless as well！ Beautiful photographs， easy to understand conversion chart， and helpful tips make this an ideal cookbook for any collection。

What a cool book！ Perfect for any anime or manga fan， this gem of a cookbook has delightful stories， recipes， and photos。The recipes are very detailed yet clear and easy to follow， and there are a lot of tips about ingredients and tools at the beginning。I find this book to be both a great cookbook as well as a fun read - what a wonderful combination！！

Bake anime is a treat， literally and figuratively。 It is just as beautiful on the inside as the outside。 There are plenty of mouthwatering and inciting pictures throughout。 Combined with the bright cover and adorable illustrations， I was immediately fascinated。 But upon diving a little deeper， I found the writing to be a perfect match for book filled with such sweetness。 The author’s love and passion for both baking and anime come through clearly in every recipe and anecdote。 The recipes themsel Bake anime is a treat， literally and figuratively。 It is just as beautiful on the inside as the outside。 There are plenty of mouthwatering and inciting pictures throughout。 Combined with the bright cover and adorable illustrations， I was immediately fascinated。 But upon diving a little deeper， I found the writing to be a perfect match for book filled with such sweetness。 The author’s love and passion for both baking and anime come through clearly in every recipe and anecdote。 The recipes themselves are clear and concise， and very easy to follow。 In addition， each section gives you interesting background on the anime from which the recipe is inspired and also on the larger cultural context of the food itself within the real world （or sometimes a fantasy world）。 You can tell that there was a lot of time and love put into this cookbook。 I recommend reading through it， especially the introduction， which talks about the author’s baking journey and the history of desserts in Japan。 Far too often， people with allergies must settle for less， but not here！ Each recipe was clearly marked with dietary information （gluten-free， dairy-free， nut-free etc。） and possible substitutions。 As someone who can’t eat gluten， this was extremely helpful and timesaving。 The author took the time to make gluten-free variations and substitutions whenever possible， so that I can enjoy the recipes too！ One thing that really annoys me with some cookbooks is that you find a recipe you like， go to the store， buy all the ingredients， get home， start cooking， only to find out you need some special piece of equipment that you don’t have！ All that time and effort， wasted！ （And yes， I know that this problem could easily be solved by actually reading the recipe before going to the store and buying everything， but I’m not a perfect person and I don’t pretend to be）。 But with this book， I don’t have to worry about that at all！ On the right-hand side of every recipe， there is a stats column that tells you how long the recipe takes and any special equipment needed to execute such a masterpiece。 It’s very easy for my lizard brain to see and I truly appreciate that。 What’s great about this cookbook is that it’s for everyone， not just anime fans。 Of course， anime fans can appreciate trying to recreate some of their favorite recipes。 But I also think this would be a great book for any baker who’d like to expand their repertoire and try some new and creative dishes。 。。。more

“Bake Anime，” by Emily J。 Bushman， is a delightful cookbook。 I enjoyed reading the introduction and hearing an abridged history of sugar in Japan。 I also loved the perspective of Ms。 Bushman and hearing how she became interested in cooking anime inspired dishes。 I， myself， have wanted to eat many of the dishes I see in anime， so I could relate to Ms。 Bushman’s experiences， and reading about the disappointment of the strawberry shortcake was really interesting。 The cookbook starts out with going “Bake Anime，” by Emily J。 Bushman， is a delightful cookbook。 I enjoyed reading the introduction and hearing an abridged history of sugar in Japan。 I also loved the perspective of Ms。 Bushman and hearing how she became interested in cooking anime inspired dishes。 I， myself， have wanted to eat many of the dishes I see in anime， so I could relate to Ms。 Bushman’s experiences， and reading about the disappointment of the strawberry shortcake was really interesting。 The cookbook starts out with going over specific ingredients that are common in the recipes and by going over the different baking tools that many of the recipes call for。 I love those features， the cookbooks I used growing up didn’t ever feature useful generalized baking or cooking information that related to the recipes。The pictures in this cookbook are incredible。 I was salivating the entire time I flipped through the book。 It was incredibly nostalgic for me to see the Stamped Cookies from “Sailor Moon Supers: The Movie，” I watched that movie so many times as a kid， and I know I tried to make cookies like Ami did， but the bottom of the cup I used wasn’t as effective as I’d hoped。 I will be trying that again now， with the moon cake stamps that are used in the recipe （as opposed to the bottom of a drinking glass）。There are some small details that I think give this cookbook extra flavor。 The recipes have little tidbits of information on the side; some of them are tips for the baking process， some of them are substitution options， there are serving or storage tips， and there are even interesting food facts。 Those little side notes make the recipes more accessible and drew me into looking at the recipes more closely。I’m a very picky eater and I want to make and eat most of the items featured in the cookbook。 I work full time， so I chose to make one of the recipes with a shorter baking time。 My family helped me make the recipe。 We made the Daigaku Imo recipe， which features satsumaimo， a Japanese sweet potato。 We didn’t have time to check the closest Japanese story for satsumaimo， so we used American sweet potatoes instead。 They turned out really well！The recipe took less than an hour to make， and the time in the cookbook said 30 minutes - so that lined up。 The instructions were very clear and easy to follow。 We enjoyed the crunchiness and soft texture of the sweet potato。 It was thoroughly flavored。 My brother loved the Daigaku Imo so much that he wrote me a description。 This is that description: “Sweet， tastes like the joy I would experience if I were a character in an anime。 Addictingly sensual to the tongue， fun in its light and free texture， tastes like a treat minus the sugar。 Crunchy， suggestively sweet and salty。”The Daigaku Imo was a success， and I can’t wait to try the other recipes in this book。 I have my eye on the Ichigo Daifuku， and I have a vacation in a few weeks - that may be the perfect time to make it。 This cookbook has a wonderful design， and the recipes look amazing！ I’ve already made one of them， and it tasted great。 I’m definitely buying some extra copies to give as gifts to the bakers in my life。 。。。more
